Frequently asked questions
How does the app decide when I should go to the hospital?
It looks at the contractions you timed in the last hour and compares their average length and spacing with the 5‑1‑1 rule (every 5 minutes, lasting 1 minute, for 1 hour) that most doctors and midwives use for a first baby. You can switch to 4‑1‑1 or 3‑1‑1 in Settings, and the app recommends leaving earlier if this is not your first baby, if your water breaks, or if contractions are very long or very close together.
Is Contraction Timer a medical device?
No. The app is a timer and a journal. Its recommendations are based on standard indicators and every labor is different. If your water breaks, you have heavy bleeding, the baby moves less than usual or the pain becomes unbearable, go to the hospital right away. Always follow the advice of your doctor or midwife.
I tapped too late / forgot to stop a contraction.
Tap any contraction in the list to edit its start, end and duration, or long‑press it to delete or resume it. You can also add a contraction manually.
Where is my data stored?
Only on your device (and on your Apple Watch while it mirrors the phone). There is no account and nothing is uploaded unless you choose to share a PDF, CSV or summary yourself.
How do I cancel Contraction Timer Pro?
Open Settings on your iPhone → your name → Subscriptions → Contraction Timer, or use "Manage subscription" inside the app. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
Restore a purchase on a new phone
Settings → Restore purchases inside the app, signed in with the same Apple Account.
